Meet Steve
On January 28, 2009, Steve Hodges was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease. A year later he was sitting in church when the inspiration to create a Fund/Foundation came to him.
TEAM KIME + PARKINSON’S FOUNDATION
Background
KiMe has been successful in raising awareness and donations to fund high risk/high reward research to find a cure for Parkinson’s. It also includes success in attracting matching donations, funding research that has attracted significant additional funding from major funding sources (e.g., NIH), and supporting events hosted by other organizations through participation in planning committees and sponsorships.
Over the last 16 years, KiMe has established itself as a successful fundraising group with outstanding relationships with some of the top research institutes and countless supporters in eight countries.
KiMe events in 2023 and 2024 were record-breaking. Each event generated over $100,000 in revenue. The confidence level is high that we can continue to not only achieve but increase this amount by establishing a strategic agreement with the Parkinson’s Foundation .
Partnership Framework
Our Donor Advised Fund (DAF) with ETF has been dissolved and all monies remaining were transferred to the Parkinson’s Foundation to support the January 25, 2025 Shakin Not Stirred Gala.
A Few Things to Know
Henceforth KiMe will be referred to as Team KiMe. The following statement will be included on select marketing materials when Team KiMe is involved in fundraising: “Team KiMe is a dedicated group of volunteers for the Parkinson’s Foundation – a 501(c) (3) organization.”
Our Purpose
“Our Purpose” statement was changed from: “Fund research focused on finding a cure”
To:
“Fund research focused on finding a cure and supporting our community”
Distribution of Funds Raised
80% of funds raised will be designated towards the Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech – a partnership between the Parkinson’s Foundation and Parkinson’s UK that funds high risk, high reward research conducted by biotech companies to accelerate new treatments and ideally a cure for Parkinson’s disease; 20% of funds raised by TEAM KIME will be designated for the Parkinson’s Foundation Comprehensive Care Center at University of Tennessee Knoxville. All events will clearly designate the percentage of funds raised that will go to the Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech and University of Tennessee Knoxville.
